If you think you’ve got the brainpower to join us, read on. We are now accepting applications for college graduates who will have obtained their degree by June 2013. We’re excited to know more about you, so please complete the "assignment" outlined below. Pay close attention to what we’re asking for and take some time to think before you create. This is your first chance to show us who you are and how you think. It wouldn’t hurt to impress us.

What’s a 20-ton idea? It’s an idea so big it moves people—to change their perceptions and their habits. It’s what our creative team strives to craft every day. They also have to communicate it—clearly, simply and in the most interesting way possible.
Can you do that? If so, we invite you to apply to be one of the 2013 Velocity interns.

Then you’ll fit right in as a Production Intern in the fast-paced MW Production Department. You’ll work alongside project managers in all media types to examine possibilities, push boundaries and embrace imagination. You’ll be responsible for helping to define project goals, scope, timeline, budget and overall task plan, and for taking a deep dive into specific media to answer “How do we make that happen?”

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about media, digital strategy, user experience and analytics. If you are a curious thinker and love to stay on top of emerging media trends, you’ll fit in with our crew.
“What sets this internship apart from others in the area is the level of expectation MW has for its interns to be curious and fearless. I was never scared to ask questions or speak my mind because I was an intern. I was encouraged. My intern role was a new position in the agency and I was supposed to carve out what this position would look like. There was no time for me to sit back and just let it happen. I had to mold this position to be beneficial for me and everyone at the agency. And now as I look back on my internship experience, I can see how much I have grown in my career by being a Velocity intern.”
—Kayla Knudson, Data Visualist
“What attracted me to the Velocity Program was the promise for total immersion and being treated like a full-time employee. Thanks to the support of the great MW family we were able to do just that, all while learning and growing along the way.”
—Liz Wingate, Associate Production Lead
“Coming into this internship from a part-time creative job was a big step towards my career, and never did I regret it. For Creative, this is a great place to launch your career. In the first two months of interning I was running photo-shoots with renowned photographers, directing beats at music studios, approving work at print shops while working with all internal departments to make my ideas come to life. It just doesn’t get any more real than this.”
—Meky Souvannachack, Art Director
“As an intern at MW, not only was I welcomed to be part of the dynamic culture but I was also responsible for working with real clients. It was an invaluable experience that helped pave the way for a great start to my career.”
—Mackenzie Kauffman, Assistant Account Manager
“It’s honest. But the truth hurts less here.”
—Kyle Fiebelkorn, Writer
Q: Can you apply for more than one position in the Velocity program?
Yes, but be sure you consider the nuances of each specific application.
Q: What positions are available through Velocity?
This year we have positions in Account Management, Creative, Engagement and Production
Q: When is the Velocity application due?
3/31/13. Your application must be received or post marked by the 3/31/13 deadline.
Q: If I get into the Velocity program, will it lead to a full-time gig after it’s over?
Our crystal ball is broken. We can’t guarantee employment past the end of the program. That said, we are fortunate enough to have a pretty great track record of being able to hire directly from the Velocity group, but that is not a guarantee.
Q: What are the specific dates of the Velocity program?
June 10, 2013 – September 27th, 2013.
Q: Will I get paid?
Yep – the Velocity program is a paid internship.
Q: Do I really need to be done with school to be considered for the Velocity program?
Yes, you do. The Velocity program is specifically geared for those who are completed with school.
Q: Do I need to have an advertising degree or background in order to apply?
Not necessarily. There are many different degree paths that could lead to a job within our industry.
Q: I want to include a website as part of my branding of myself – how do I do that?
Just send us a link to the site – we can take it from there.
Q: What is the difference between Project Management and Account Management?
Account Managers are primarily responsible for the day to day running of one or more client’s business. Project managers manage the process of moving a job through the agency.
Q: How many people will get interviews for the Velocity positions?
It sort of depends. We will go through the applications and narrow them down to those who we think could be wonderful in the Velocity program. That could mean we’d be seeing as few as a couple, or as many as eight or nine for each position.
Q: Is it ok to be a Velocity team member and own a pet at the same time?
We think so, yes. Please just remember to feed them.
